IIM - Corporate Membership

Category Eligibility Criteria
Patron Any Company, Institution, Government Department, Corporation, Industry or Trade Association, connected with the Metallurgical, Metals related Industries, Education or Research will be eligible to be elected as Patron, Donor or Sustaining members in the category of corporate membership.

An eminent individual connected with Metallurgical, Metals and Metals related Industries, Education and Research is also eligible to be elected as a Patron Member

IIM - Student Membership

 

Category Eligibility Criteria
Student Member (AMIIM) An individual who is being educated or being trained for and intends to adopt the profession of Metallurgist.
Age Open
Education: Passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 2 years of industrial experience. OR
B.Sc. after passing Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. OR
Holding Diploma in Engineering after passing Higher Secondary (10+2) or SSLC with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. [The Diploma Holders with SSLC background should have at least 1 (one) year of industrial experience after passing Diploma Examination.] OR
Holding Bachelor's Degree in engineering or equivalent other than Metallurgy.

Note:
For appearing at the AMIIM exam following documents are to be submitted along with application.
documentary proof of academic qualifications, and Industrial Experience Certificate.

Student Member (Academic)
Age Open
Education Stuyding Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, till completion of Degree.
Stuyding Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering, till completion of Diploma. (Such Diploma Holders can appear at the AMIIM Examinations only on acquiring the other eligibility criterion.)

IIM - Individual Membership

 

Member & Life Member
Age 25 years minimum
Education Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or equivalent discipline, OR
AMIIM exams (Part I & II) conducted by IIM with 3 years experience, OR
Masters' degree in Metallurgy or equivalent with 1 year experience, OR
Bachelors / Masters degree in other engineering discipline / Ph.D. in Physics / Chemistry / Geology with 5 years experience OR
Diploma in Metallurgy with 5 years experience OR
Diploma in other Engineering Disciplines / B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Geology with at least 7 years experience OR
Degree from recognised University and proposed / recommended by at least 3 Past Presidents of the IIM
Fellow
Age Open
Education A candidate for admission to the class of 'Fellow' shall be a person of eminence in the profession who has significantly contributed in metallurgy and materials science including metals industry and academia of value / relevance in India with 15 (fifteen) years of professional experience, admitted by the Council of the Institute with reference to each individual case.
Nomination Fellows can be nominated by:
Honorary members, President, Vice Presidents, Fellows and Life Fellows of the Institute. To be proposed by one of the above and seconded by another.
Associate member & Life Associate Member [Applicable to existing Associate Members]
Age 20 years minimum
Education Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or equivalent discipline, OR
AMIIM exams (Part I & II) conducted by IIM OR
Bachelors / Master's degree in other engineering discipline / Ph.D. in Physics / Chemistry / Geology with at least 2 years experience OR
Diploma in Metallurgy with at least 3 years experience OR
Diploma in Engineering other than Metallurgy / B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Geology with at least 4 years experience
Affiliate member
Age Open
  An individual who does not fit into any of the membership category but is engaged for a period of not less than 10 years in the promotion of science and art of making shaping and treating of metals and alloys and whose association in view of the Council will be useful to the IIM, may be elected as Affiliate member
